T Minus 28 Hours

Feliz Navidad! Espero que nosotros tengamos una Navidad fantastica!
Merry Christmas! I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas!

We are coming very near to our departure for Guatemala and for Casa Bernabe orphanage! So many months of planning and anticipation are closing in and we are more than excited to see God's providence through it all! God has continued to provide for our team with financial donations and donations for the orphanage including blankets, clothes, craft items, etc. We have seen God come through in various ways in this planning process and finally being able do His work at the orphanage will be so thrilling!

I can't help but think about the night when baby Jesus was born and I am sure I will be even more reminded about God's love and His gift of Salvation when I encounter these small babies who have been abandoned. God sent his only Son to give us a bigger gift than we will ever be able to comprehend and his Son is able to conquer the world. I think of the children at this orphanage who have the ability to be world changers in the name of Jesus Christ. God calls us all to "go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit..." and this is what our team is going to do. We are going to be Christ with skin on to these children. We are going to show them that they have the ability to change the world with the love of Christ. With all the negatives and disappointment we see in this world, we will be able to find joy in the smiles of the children and their passion for life...even when they have nothing compared to us.

As you are praying for our team, we ask that you pray for the children, that they would be found by the grace of God and that they would take heart and hope in the gift that God has sent to each of us. I challenge you all to find the joy in your lives, count your blessings, and be grateful for the Gift that Christ has given you!

May God be with you through the rest of 2009 and through the new year! By the grace of God we have made it through another decade and we are blessed for what we have learned through these last years.

I encourage you to stay tuned, stick with our blog through the next two weeks! There will be updates throughout our trip and we excited to share with you what God is doing in Guatemala! :)
